Bhaktivinoda Thakura – Appearance day

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur, was a great Vaishanva and part of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Madhava sampradaya parampara. He was also the father of Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati, who was the spiritual master (guru) of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (founder of ISKCON). 

He was a highly respected magistrate by profession. He preached Vaishnavism and was a prolific writer. He wrote several Vaishnava books and songs which are read and sung till date by Gaudiya Vaishnava devotees across the word.

 His appearance day is marked with fasting till noon. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur appeared in 1838 in an aristrocratic family of Calcutta. Named Kedaranath, his youth was spent absorbed in studies.
